Final Week Fundraising Push

The largest climate action collaboration in Canadian history is only a week away! On October 24th, C-Day: Fill the Hill will join more than 4,200 events in 170+ countries around the world, demanding our leaders agree on a fair, ambitious and binding climate deal in Copenhagen. Engaging speakers, a 1000-person flash dance and great entertainment will make Canada’s banner event a day to remember.

As you can imagine, real resources are required to fund C-Day, and despite exhaustive efforts by a dedicated volunteer team, we require a bit more cash to ensure that C-Day is the turning point in Canadian climate history. This event that will inspire thousands of citizens is being run on a shoestring budget.

A donation of $5, $10 or $50 would be of HUGE significance.

Not even James Taylor can calm the excitement now. October has arrived. Mmm.. breathe in that autumn air. Smells like fire and leaves and pumpkin and everything nice. How about some climate action to round off your month? After all, we want to make sure that we can always enjoy the four seasons.

The Age of Stupid or The Age of the Green Transition?

Imagine. It’s 2020. Where are you? How old will you be?

In 2009 world leaders failed to come up with a climate change treaty that committed to science-based targets on greenhouse gas emissions. By now, greenhouse gas emissions should be down by 40% below 1990 levels to avoid runaway global warming. They are not.

The Canadian tar sands helped fuel China’s burgeoning economy and an America addicted to oil. Promises of ‘clean coal’ and carbon sequestration have failed completely or have not lived up to the ‘green’ solution that industry claimed they would be.

Killer hurricanes are happening more and more frequently. African countries are buckling from intense heat, drought, disease and dried up reservoirs. Countries still committed to the carbon economy are waging war over dwindling oil reserves. Millions of migrants are living in squalor in refugee camps near western boundaries.

The worst is yet to come. And you know it. Do you have kids? How old are they? (more…)
